Paintings
In my compositions I like to experiment with mixed media. I often start painting with a general idea of what I want to do. Almost always, this idea is based on reality, such as a landscape or a specific object. Other paintings may simply be based on the idea of a color scheme or a geometric composition.
However, only after several attempts this idea become more clear to me. Instead of just starting over on a new canvas as the idea develops, I add new layers of paint on top of previous compositions. I continue this process until the picture I was striving for appears on the surface. The process of adding layers sometimes can lead my idea into a completely new direction, as a result of which the picture will only vaguely resemble my original intention. These layers represent my thought process, reveal past versions of the work, and ultimately make up the final composition.
